UncleTimmy McGonagleFor those visiting 1) Don't take cabs. Use the subway instead as cabs add up fast. A seven day metro card is unlimited usage on subway or bus, 24 hours a day and it's only $30. The subway can even be faster than cabs in certain cases. 2) Every major museum offers free hours at least once a week. There is also plenty of free stuff to see such as the Highline, Central Park, take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry and so much, much more. Time Out New York magazine/site is a good source for inexpensive things to do like see a revival movie at Film Forum or go see an improv show at the Upright Citizen's Brigade. 3) Do some online research and Yelp app action as to where you eat. Taking a few extra minutes to investigate the area can yield some tasty and reasonable eats. My favorite being the delectable Vanessa's Dumpling House in Chinatown where you can get four potstickers for a dollar, 75 cent scallion/sesame pancakes, and a three dollar smoked duck sandwich. Places like that do exist here, really. 4) New Yorkers are very cordial and sometimes outright friendly (gasp!). While some may be curt, nearly all will be happy to point you in the right direction or answer a question.

Trent JohnsonWe eat out every Friday night fo sho, satan, though tonight was just me and my boy. He had the Foster burger with bleu cheese and literally devoured it in 2 minutes. I on the other hand took much more time. The Foster Road Pile up has the bacon, cheddar, fried egg, caramelized onions and a slice of pickled beet. It was good, but too much. I won't do that again, but I had to experience it. I had to take the beet out because I was getting full and the slice was almost as big as the patty. The bun was superb. No room left for the fries!
